Through the delusion of opposites, born of desire and aversion, O descendant of Bharata, all beings fall into bewilderment at birth, O scorcher of foes.
Explanation
Krishna has just said that no one truly knows him. Here he explains why: from birth, beings are bewildered by pairs of opposites (dvandva) such as pleasure and pain or liking and disliking, which arise from desire (icchā) and aversion (dveṣa). The word sarge can mean "at birth" or "in creation", and commentators differ on which is meant, but both point to delusion (moha) as the basic human condition.
