nāhaṃ prakāśaḥ sarvasya yogamāyāsamāvṛtaḥ |mūḍho'yaṃ nābhijānāti loko māmajamavyayam ||
I am not visible to everyone, for I am veiled by my yogamaya. This bewildered world does not recognize me as unborn and unchanging.
Explanation
Krishna continues explaining why people mistake him for an ordinary being. He says his divine power of illusion (yogamāyā) veils him, so deluded people fail to see that he is unborn (aja) and imperishable (avyaya). Traditions differ on yogamāyā: some read it as his own divine power that conceals and reveals him, others stress its link with the creative power of illusion (māyā) that binds beings.
