आब्रह्मभुवनाल्लोकाः पुनरावर्तिनोऽर्जुन ।मामुपेत्य तु कौन्तेय पुनर्जन्म न विद्यते ॥
ābrahmabhuvanāllokāḥ punarāvartino'rjuna |māmupetya tu kaunteya punarjanma na vidyate ||
All the worlds, up to the realm of Brahma, are subject to return, O Arjuna. But for one who has reached Me, O son of Kunti, there is no rebirth.
Explanation
Krishna continues explaining to Arjuna what happens after death. Even the highest world, that of Brahma the creator (Brahmaloka), lies within the cycle of birth and return (punarāvartin). Only reaching Krishna himself, the supreme, ends rebirth (punarjanma). Traditions differ on what "reaching Me" means: for devotional schools it is eternal communion with the personal God, while Advaita reads it as liberation through realizing one's identity with Brahman.
