अहङ्कारं बलं दर्पं कामं क्रोधं च संश्रिताः ।मामात्मपरदेहेषु प्रद्विषन्तोऽभ्यसूयकाः ॥
ahaṅkāraṃ balaṃ darpaṃ kāmaṃ krodhaṃ ca saṃśritāḥ |māmātmaparadeheṣu pradviṣanto'bhyasūyakāḥ ||
Clinging to ego, force, arrogance, desire and anger, these resentful people hate Me, who dwell in their own bodies and in the bodies of others…
Explanation
Krishna is continuing his description of the demonic (asura) temperament. Such people rely on ego (ahaṅkāra), power, pride, desire (kāma) and anger (krodha), and they find fault with everything. Because the Lord dwells in all bodies, their contempt for themselves and others is, in effect, hatred of him; some commentators stress this indwelling presence, while others stress their rejection of Krishna and scriptural teaching. The sentence continues into the next verse, which says what becomes of them.
