सीदन्ति मम गात्राणि मुखं च परिशुष्यति ।वेपथुश्च शरीरे मे रोमहर्षश्च जायते ॥
sīdanti mama gātrāṇi mukhaṃ ca pariśuṣyati |vepathuśca śarīre me romaharṣaśca jāyate ||
My limbs give way and my mouth is going dry. My body trembles, and the hair on my skin stands on end.
Explanation
Arjuna, looking at his own relatives lined up for battle, describes how compassion (kṛpā) and grief are overwhelming him physically. This verse lists the first signs: weak limbs, a dry mouth, trembling and goosebumps. It shows his resolve collapsing even before he states his doubts about the war.
