यद्यप्येते न पश्यन्ति लोभोपहतचेतसः ।कुलक्षयकृतं दोषं मित्रद्रोहे च पातकम् ॥
yadyapyete na paśyanti lobhopahatacetasaḥ |kulakṣayakṛtaṃ doṣaṃ mitradrohe ca pātakam ||
Even though these men, their minds overpowered by greed, see no fault in destroying a family, and no sin in betraying a friend…
Explanation
Arjuna is explaining to Krishna why he cannot bring himself to fight his own relatives. He says the Kauravas are so overcome by greed (lobha) that they fail to see the harm in wiping out a family (kula-kṣaya) or the sin in betraying friends. The sentence continues into the next verse, where Arjuna argues that he, who does see this harm, should turn away from such wrongdoing.
