Listen to me briefly about that field: what it is, what its nature is, how it changes, where it comes from, and also who the knower is and what his power is.
Explanation
Krishna has just defined the field (kṣetra, the body and its experienced world) and the knower of the field (kṣetrajña, the conscious self that knows it). Here he announces a short teaching on five points: what the field is, its nature, its changes (vikāra), its source, and who the knower is and what power he has. Traditions differ on whether the knower is ultimately the individual self or the one Self, but the verse itself only lists the topics.
