Among the Sama chants I am the Brihat-sama, and among metres I am the Gayatri. Among months I am Margashirsha, and among seasons I am spring, rich in flowers.
Explanation
Krishna continues describing his divine manifestations (vibhūti) to Arjuna, naming the finest example in each category. Here these are the Brihat-sama chant (from the Sama Veda), the Gayatri metre (chandas, the verse-rhythms of the Vedas), the month of Margashirsha (roughly November–December) and spring (kusumākara, 'the abode of flowers'). The point is that whatever is most excellent in a class points back to him.
