Non-violence, evenness of mind, contentment, austerity, giving, fame and disgrace — these varied states of living beings arise from me alone.
Explanation
Krishna continues the list begun in the previous verse of qualities and conditions found in living beings, both admirable and unwelcome. Here he names non-violence (ahiṃsā), evenness of mind (samatā), contentment (tuṣṭi), austerity (tapas), giving (dāna), fame and disgrace. He says that all these different states (bhāvāḥ) come from him alone, which prepares for the account of his divine glories (vibhūti) in this chapter.
