Among all trees I am the ashvattha (sacred fig); among divine sages, Narada; among the gandharvas, Chitraratha; and among the perfected ones, the sage Kapila.
Explanation
Krishna continues listing his divine manifestations (vibhūti) to Arjuna, naming the finest example in each class of being. The ashvattha is the sacred fig tree; Narada is a celestial sage; the gandharvas are heavenly musicians, with Chitraratha as their chief; and the siddhas are perfected beings, of whom the sage Kapila is foremost. Kapila is traditionally identified with the founder of the Sankhya philosophy.
