इदं तु ते गुह्यतमं प्रवक्ष्याम्यनसूयवे ।ज्ञानं विज्ञानसहितं यज्ज्ञात्वा मोक्ष्यसेऽशुभात् ॥
idaṃ tu te guhyatamaṃ pravakṣyāmyanasūyave |jñānaṃ vijñānasahitaṃ yajjñātvā mokṣyase'śubhāt ||
To you, who do not find fault, I will now tell this most secret knowledge, together with its direct realization. Knowing it, you will be freed from what is inauspicious.
Explanation
Krishna begins the ninth chapter by speaking to Arjuna, calling him someone free from fault-finding or envy (anasūyu), and so ready to receive a deep teaching. He promises knowledge (jñāna) joined with direct, lived realization (vijñāna). The "inauspicious" (aśubha) is read by many commentators as the bondage of worldly existence (saṃsāra), and the verse promises liberation (mokṣa) from it.
