न च मत्स्थानि भूतानि पश्य मे योगमैश्वरम् ।भूतभृन्न च भूतस्थो ममात्मा भूतभावनः ॥
na ca matsthāni bhūtāni paśya me yogamaiśvaram |bhūtabhṛnna ca bhūtastho mamātmā bhūtabhāvanaḥ ||
And yet beings do not truly rest in me. See my sovereign yoga: my Self sustains all beings and brings them into being, yet does not dwell in them.
Explanation
Krishna has just said that all beings rest in him, yet he does not abide in them. Here he calls this paradox his sovereign yoga (aiśvara yoga), his divine power: he is the source and support of all beings (bhūtabhṛt, bhūtabhāvana) without being bound or limited by them. Advaita readings take this as the world depending on the Self while the Self remains untouched; devotional traditions stress God's inconceivable power to be both close to and beyond creation.
