Those who know the three Vedas, who drink the soma and are purified of sin, worship me with sacrifices and pray to reach heaven. Having gained, through their merit, the world of Indra, lord of the gods, they enjoy the divine pleasures of the gods in heaven.
Explanation
Krishna has just said he is both immortality and death, being and non-being. Now he describes those who follow the Vedic ritual path (the three Vedas, trayī vidyā). They worship him through sacrifice (yajña) but only for the sake of heaven (svarga), so they gain the pleasures of Indra's world as the reward of their merit (puṇya). Krishna goes on to say in the next verse that this reward is temporary.
