All beings, O son of Kunti, pass into my own nature at the end of an age; and at the start of the next age, I send them forth again.
Explanation
Krishna continues teaching Arjuna about his supreme sovereignty over creation, after saying that all beings rest in him as air rests in space. At the end of a cosmic age (kalpa), beings dissolve into his prakṛti, the creative nature or matter, and he emits them again at the start of the next. Many Vedanta readings take prakṛti here as Krishna's own power (māyā or śakti), while Sankhya-influenced readings stress it as the primal material nature.
