daṃṣṭrākarālāni ca te mukhānidṛṣṭvaiva kālānalasannibhāni |diśo na jāne na labhe ca śarmaprasīda deveśa jagannivāsa ||
Just seeing your mouths, fearsome with their tusks and blazing like the fire at the end of time, I lose my sense of direction and find no comfort. Be gracious, O Lord of the gods, O abode of the universe.
Explanation
Arjuna has asked to see Krishna's universal form, and now he is overwhelmed by its terrifying side. The "fire at the end of time" (kālānala) is the blaze that dissolves the world at the close of a cosmic age. Disoriented and unable to find comfort (śarma), he begs Krishna to be gracious and calm him.
