matkarmakṛnmatparamo madbhaktaḥ saṅgavarjitaḥ |nirvairaḥ sarvabhūteṣu yaḥ sa māmeti pāṇḍava ||
One who does my work, who holds me as the highest goal, who is devoted to me, free from attachment, and without hatred toward any being — that person comes to me, O son of Pandu.
Explanation
Having shown his cosmic form, Krishna closes the chapter by telling Arjuna who actually reaches him. He lists five qualities: acting for him, taking him as the supreme goal, devotion (bhakti), freedom from attachment (saṅga), and no enmity toward any being. Traditions stress different parts: devotional schools emphasise bhakti and surrender, while others read it as selfless action and equanimity leading to knowledge.
