nabhaḥspṛśaṃ dīptamanekavarṇaṃvyāttānanaṃ dīptaviśālanetram |dṛṣṭvā hi tvāṃ pravyathitāntarātmādhṛtiṃ na vindāmi śamaṃ ca viṣṇo ||
For when I see You touching the sky, blazing, many-colored, with mouths wide open and huge, glowing eyes, my inmost self trembles in distress, and I find no steadiness or peace, O Vishnu.
Explanation
Arjuna has asked to see Krishna's cosmic form, and now he is overwhelmed by it. He describes a being that reaches the sky, blazes with light, and has wide-open mouths and huge shining eyes. Seeing this, he loses his steadiness (dhṛti) and his peace (śama), and he addresses Krishna as Vishnu, the all-pervading one.
