mā te vyathā mā ca vimūḍhabhāvodṛṣṭvā rūpaṃ ghoramīdṛṅmamedam |vyapetabhīḥ prītamanāḥ punastvaṃtadeva me rūpamidaṃ prapaśya ||
Do not be distressed or bewildered at seeing this terrible form of mine. With your fear gone and your heart glad, look once more at this same form of mine.
Explanation
Krishna speaks to Arjuna, who has been shaken by the vast, fearsome universal form (viśvarūpa) and has asked to see Krishna's familiar form again. Krishna reassures him, telling him to put aside distress (vyathā) and bewilderment (vimūḍha-bhāva) and, with his fear gone, to look again at the form he knows. The "same form" is generally taken to mean Krishna's gentle, human-like appearance, which the next verse shows.
