When a person gives up all the desires that arise in the mind, O Partha, and is content in the Self alone, through the Self, then they are called one of steady wisdom.
Explanation
Krishna answers Arjuna's question in the previous verse about how a person of steady wisdom (sthitaprajña) is recognized. Here he says such a person has let go of all desires (kāma) that arise in the mind and finds contentment within the Self (ātman), not in outside things. Traditions differ on the Self: Advaita reads it as one's own true nature, while devotional schools read it as the soul finding joy in its relationship with God.
