Passionate, eager for the fruits of his actions, greedy, harmful in nature, impure, and swayed by joy and sorrow — such a doer is declared to be rajasic.
Explanation
Krishna is continuing his description of three types of doer (kartā), shaped by the three qualities of nature (guṇas). After the sattvic doer in the previous verse, he now describes the rajasic one, driven by passion (rajas). This person is attached (rāga), craves results, and is greedy, harmful and impure (aśuci, often read as lacking inner or ethical purity). Their mood swings between joy and sorrow with success and failure.
