Devoted to his own proper work, a person attains complete perfection. Listen now to how one who is intent on his own work finds that perfection.
Explanation
Krishna has just described the duties of the four social classes (varṇa), each said to arise from a person's own nature (svabhāva). Here he says that devotion to one's own work (karma) leads to complete perfection (saṃsiddhi). He then promises to explain how, which the next verse does by pointing to worship through one's work.
